Jambo, things are slowly back to normal. The government is trying. Reports of the human rights states that election violence were planned by some politicians which is very right. Like in my place the Kikuyu are very much tribal in everything. Whenever you go they ask whats your tribe. Life is not the way it used to be.

In the shops things have gone up for a normal person like me. Yet there is no jobs. Jobs that are there people are under paid. Working hours is 8 hrs so at the end of the day yoiu are given 2 dollars which is not enough for a family man. You have to struggle hard.

It’s morning. I have to wake up early so that I might go and look for something to eat for my family before the kids are up. As you know if they wake up and they find nothing they will start crying so I have to leave the house before they are up. My going out is unpredictable if you will come back with something to put on the table. You just pray.

Life in my place is the same. It never changes. My today is like yesterday. I plan with whatever I have in hand. You can’t even change your diet at home because its to expensive. Yet the government is saying that our economy is good for them, not low class people like me who even go without food.

The government is telling us about free education, there is nothing like that. Because the teachers still ASK FOR money, every now and then for food program, books etc. which is a lot. Students don’t do well because there are so many students in the class that even teachers don’t teach even well. Thats why students don’t do well compared to private schools.

Since elections things have not been well. We always depend on relief food which comes in the church once a week. Paying rent is a problem because jobs are not there. My landlord is always coming to ask for the rent. I keep telling him to give me time. My electricity was cut down because of the pending bills. You can’t complain because you haven’t paid.

I am trying to work on my house which was destroyed with stones while I was away during elections. As you know long rains have started. I want to take my kids to my sisters place where they are safe of rain.
It’s raining since yesterday. I can’t move because of the rain. I am trying to arrange my things for the rain not to destroy my things.

Its cool, things are moving although tribolism is high since elections. Everything is being done on trible: lines, jobs, shops, hospitals etc. Trible is on its pick. Its 2pm I went to town to look for a small job that goes for a week. I did not get because I come from a certain community I felt. I have wasted this day badly.

This morning a friend of mine called me to go and help him sell water at a village near by. At the end he pays me 2 dollars which I am sure of.

Naming of the new cabinet might be delayed and its tense for both parties. The delay is creating tension within the parties and Kofi Annan might be called again.

Its almost 9 months without work now. My family is looking for my help, I have a couple of months rent, in the shop its the same. I work very hard but nothing still. Life is difficult every day, its only good for the first class people. For us you cant even buy something because what you get is from hand to mouth you cant save any.

There will be a mass action soon according to O D M because naming of the new cabinet is being delayed. This is going to affect the common man because of the police. Many shops are closing down because of the mass action that was called. They fear being looted by angry demonstrators. Our president is the one bringing all the problems.

Because of the post election skirmishes small and big businesses did not re-open because they were reduced to ashes by gangs. This has resulted in massive job losses. I hope the government are going to agree on the distribution of ministries equally to avoid people going on the streets again. We are the ones who are affected.

The O.D.M. members are saying that we go back to the polls because the president is not naming his cabinet. We dont want to experience again what happened on december. The MPs are divided for both sides which is creating tence in the country. People have started vacating their homes for fear of being attacked again.

Its another month I have not been able to pay for my rent since December. I have now moved into one room which is too small for me and my family because of the rent. Two rooms was 2400 shilling (24 euro) per month. One room is 1200 shilling (12 euro) per month.

Rangles are still going on between the two leaders. The president is still playing it had. He does not want to divide the strong ministries equally the way they agreed.

Yesterday there was a demonstration in town by the civil society activists supporting the ajender of O D M for a small number of cabinet, police were on the look. We understand that some activist faced the full force law by being beaten. Some are in the hospital. In town no movement, police are everywhere in town.

We as Kenyans are in suspence over the naming of the cabinet which is delayed by the two leaders. Our economy is so bad that I cant meet my daily need as a normal man. Items in the shops have gone up and there are some things you cant do without. We are highly taxed by the government. Life is not the way it used to be.

Thanks a lot to the two leaders. They have now agreed to name the new cabinet in two days time. Tension is gone down now. We are hoping for the best.

Tribolizm is on its high side even among the kids. Like where I stay I had a parent telling his son not to play with my son because they are not of the same clan.

The cabinet has not been named yet. We are waiting because there is no price control of the commodities in the shops which a normal person like me cant buy. Things are still stagnant, no work to do yet bills are there to pay pilling up. I strugle a lot but the outcome cannot be seen. I work like a donkey nothing is out.

Our government is not looking at the low income people like us infact we are paying tax double what we used to pay because of the big cabinet they have. Right now our economy is really bad yet they are saying its good, no? We used to depend of farm produce biut many people did not go to the farms because of the clashes.

In some parts of Nairobi chaos has started. The police are on the run with the police right now people are indoors it is tense all over now. Kenyans are not happy the way our government is being run. We are suffering yet we voted for change thats why they are going back to the streets. Its like we are going back to where we were last general elections. Its because of our president who is after his own interest, not for the Kenyans which is bad.

We might go for a fresh elections which is very bad for us. We dont want more people to be killed. They are calling for mass actions. Its not good for low class. Schools have been forced to close because of tension all over the country, businesses have also closed for fear to be looted I cant even go to look for work.

Schools have been disrupted, railway lines in parts of the country destroyed by angry demonstrators. No work can be done right now. I cant move to look for work now. Commodities are very high that I have to do with one meal in a day together with my family. Life is expensive for me because I dont have work to do, ends cant be met.

At long last we have a cabinet which was named yesterday. We hope they are going to work and bring our economy back to where it was because right now it is bad. Since yesterday the police and a certain sect are on the run. Cars are burned, shops are looted, we are indoors. The sect are protesting the killing of one of them.

Its three days without going anywhere. Transport has been paralized by the group called Mungiki sect. They are burning cars and slashing people who are walking. Houses have been touched, families have gone back to I. D. P. camps. We are really going in the bad way yet we have the government now. It is not the Kenya I knew.

My wife is a house wife, she doenst have a job. She is always at home to look after the kids. The kids should be going to school but I cant take them because I dont work. My always teaches the kids at home when they remain at home. As you know schools are not free the way they say it. You have to pay a certain amount in school.

This morning the kids woke up early. My wife is doing some house work while I am with the kids teaching them. The kids like writing so much but they cant go to school.

Business is stand still, we cant move around. I am indoors with my family. The kids are angry because their is nothing to eat. At the moment we depend on one meal a day.

Today my wife has been called to go and do some laundry to a neighboring village. I have to let her go for us to find something to eat although its not good. At times we have to depend on these odd jobs to make both ends meet. So when my wife is away I remain with the kids at home doing other things that are left.

Our leaders have agreed on running the government together we hope they are going to solve this problem of unemployment because this is the biggest problem we have.

My wife was promised another job somewhere in town this week but in condition she has to bribe the manager of that place for her to get the job. Without it no job.

Today we are just at home. There is no place to go. I have a small team of under 12 which I practice with them at times like this when schools are closed. The kids are at home with my wife. She always stays at home. Dispite having a diploma in medicine she cant get a good job. Thats why at times she does some odd jobs.

Its one week now without water in my place. It was cut down because we havent paid for it. Me and my wife have to walk long distance every day to buy water. Life is bad with both me and my wife not working. We have been depending on my dad at times like this. Right now he is at home doing some ferming. Its survival.

My wife and the kids have gone to church to line up for food which is given to the less fortunate people. I am just at home helping with house work. I wanted to open a small business for my wife but I dont have the capital to do so. The government also taxes a lot of people with small businesses. At the end no profit.

We got a food problem in our house and in Kenya. It is expensive since last December. Farming was not done in most places in the country thats why food is expensive.
The government is trying. They had to buy food from neighboring countries which is not enough. Still we buy it for double the normal price.

One of my kids is not feeling well. My wife has gone to her big sister forhelp, I am at home with the other one. I can’t go anywere and leave him alone at home. There is a brakeout of malaria. We suspect he has malaria, because of vomitting and fever. I don’t like them being sick, because taking them to a hospital is expensive to us.

I am going to the hospital today to see my wife and kid who was dmted yesterday. He was diognized of having malaria. I will go with the other boy too.

I am in the hospital with the kid. My wife has gone back home. The kid is still ba, but improving, because now he can drink without vomitting and happily he is responding.

It’s morning. I am still in the hospital waiting for my wife to come, so I might go and organize how I can find some cash for us to keep. The kid is doing well now. My son might be discharged today according to the docter who was looking after him. He is responding well to the drugs. So the other drugs he can take at home.

Todat is labour day, when workers need to be recognized. But this is not the case. Life is going up every day, but whenever you go to work you are paid the same thing. Now the kid is at home doing well. He is even eating well, allthough food is expensive.We are trying to have one meal a day, we can’t afford three.

It’s friday and we are just at home. No place to go to for work. We are both seating the kids at home, poundering our next move. My son is doing well now and I m happy. We are in another month, bills are their for us to pay. Kids are there looking for our support, no savings at all. We have a water problem, no electricity, no nothing.

Its cool in the morning although there is food shortage in Kenya that has affected all over the country. We now depend on food from outside which is expensive. Schools have opened today my kids are just at home. I would like them to go to school but I cant because I have to buy books, uniform, pay a certain fee for lunch etc.

Our government is resetting those who were displaced it stated yesterday. Some do not want to go back because of fear. They help in constructing of houses. Its so bad that this help was not extended to us yet. Our houses were so destroyed that when it rains and you are inside its like you are outside.

People are going to work, childeren are going to school. We are just at home. My today is always like yesterday. No change of life, its the same
I am trying hard to look for something that can keep both me and my wife busy. A small business just outside the house. We will sell some things to get capital.

Its morning, we are at home with the kids playing around. My wife is doing some washing after that she will go to church. People are being helped with food. At times I feel bad about my kids when I think about school. I ask myself if one day they will go to school because I dont have a job that I can do and save well.

Life for us is always like that. Sometimes I get a smaal job for a day and times not. Jobs that I get are at times difficult because I am forced to walk for long.

We have peace in Kenya but their are no jobs. We have to struggle to make both ends meet. Even who are doing good jobs are complaining. Commodities are going up daily. Life is had that even buying cloths for myself and my family is not easy. You either go for one food, shelter or clothing. If its food its on diet always.

Tourists have started comming back to Kenya. Slowly I hope they are going to come in plentyso that jobs can be many and probably we can even get jobs from them.
I always pray for me and my wife to get good jobs or good business of ours so that we can take our kids to good schools and teach them up to where they can.

Our ministers are still divided over certain things. There is war of words amoung them. This coalition government may not last for five years because of that.

I am opening a small business for selling green vegetables outside our home which can be getting something small for my family. I am building a small structure now.

Its 10am, we are taking tea which is not usual to us but today I was blessed to have it. It is my lucky day because I have my mum who arrived from upcountry yesterday. So today I have lots of visitors who are coming to see my mum at my place. My mum brought me maize and that can take me for one week. and some days.

Its raining this side of ours. We are indoors, no movements. We cant go to look for work today. My mum is going tomorrow because she left one of my kids with neighbours. I am going to finish that structure this week and open it as soon as possible so that my wifi can be busy at times when I am away doing something else.

Jambo, today I will be going to the city council to pay them certain fee for them to allow me to do business outside our house. Tomorrow I am going to start. I am going to the market today to buy some vegetables, bananas, tomatoes, for my business. Neighbours were asking me when am I going to start. I tolled them tomorrow.

I am back at home opening my business. Customers are coming slowly to see what I have brought with me from the market. I know they will come in plenty with time.

My mum is going back upcountry today. She will be taken to the railwaystation in the afternoon.

Its cool, my wife has gone to the market I am at home with my son. Our business started well with people coming to buy. It is picking up very well.

We are both helping each other in the shop people are buying very well so that my wife can even go to the market twice. We can even have three meals in a day now.

Business is doing well. We have so many people coming to buy. Altough prices in the market are high so that we only get small profit but its better than nothing.

Business is going on well. I am opening up now. My wife has gone to the market to bring some more goods. I wll be sending some photos tomorrow.

Jambo, I am helping my wife in serving customers. Yesterday the whole day she was not around. She is back now so I am releaved. We are fine, I am planning to take another room.

Farm products are very high right now. We get profit but very small because farming was affected by post election violence. Things are coming back slowly.

Today we are both helping each other at our shop. Right now I am taking some fruits to my friends whom I supply with tomatoes, bananas etc.

There are so many people in the streets doing campaignes for the bye elections for m.P of our constitution which is next month. Tention is high because of youth.
We have opened today but we fear the youth who may come looting in the name of doing compaine. So I supply our customers door to door around my area.

My business is not that big but I have so many custoemrs. I have ann order as from next month taking vegetables and tomatoes to a certain school. They pay monthly.

Business is doing well today. Everything that we bought today is gone. So today we have closed down the shop before normal time. Pictures are on the way.

The problems we are encountaring when going to the market is transport. We have to pay much money for your good to be transported. I am looking to buy a bicycle.

Today is Friday. I am going back to the market because on saturday the market is overcrouded and you don’t get quality things for the day.

Its holiday for two days in our place. We havent gone to the market because it isclosed till tomorrow. We are just at home both of us. I am helping with house work.

Jambo we are back in business after resting for two days. My wife has gone to the market, I am preparing the house, keeping our business premises clean.

Have stated to supply that school with vegetables and tomatoes today. They are going to pay me after every one week. One month is long coz our business is small.

We are all busy these days. My wife is at our shop, while I am supplying that school. During the day I walk looking for more customers in childrens home and schools.
It is expensive right now buying farm products, coz inflation has gone up. We are buying three times as much as the normal price we used to buy.

Jambo, it’s hot this side. I am at our shop where there is no shade. We are just OK. My wife has gone to take some commodities to the school.

Nothing goes to a waste in our shop. We sell all our goods for the day. We also eat some for the day. We are never starving anymore. I can now take three meals.

I am are going upcountry (to my mother) today with my wife for two days. My son who is always sick passed away. My mother was taking care of him the last months.

I have just arrived in Nairobi. I am in the bus going home to my destination. I am alone. My wife will stay for a couple of days before she comes home. I will resume back in business tomorrow if all goes well. It is by elections in our constituency today. We have lost two more MPS yesterday in a plaine crash.

Jambo, I am fine right now. I am in the market place shopping. I am alone so I have to wake up early so that I can make it on time. Things are back to normal with me. It took me time to accept the reality of what happened.

Things are going on well. My business is picking up slowly because I was away. My customers did not know where I was for the last two days but they know now.

Its raining. I am coming from the market. Today it will be a bad day because in my shop I have no shade so when its raining it just rain in. I wanted to make a good structure with shade but am trying to save.

Its a busy day with rain pouring heavily but I still work with it like that. I have managed to supply my customers. My goods are already gone. I am remaining with a few.

Inflation is too high despite our budget being read some days back. It affected normal person even our business. Many of our customers are low income people.

My wife will be coming tomorrow together with our son John Mark. I will be happy to see them again after taking some days at home. We will be back as usual.

Business is doing well but slowly because of the inflation. What helps us is the supply we are doing to the school of which they are paying us every week.

I am already done with todays work. Now I am preparing to go to the railway station to meet my wife who is on the way coming.

Today I am not going to the market. My wife will help me. I will be doing some house work while waiting.

Yesterdays work has been so good, both of us were busy. I was looking for new customers in some of the schools around.

We are trying to work very hard to get more customers so that we can save good money to pay our house rent. I am looking for more customers while my wife is at the shop.

It was a busy day for me walking all along looking for more customers. We are not doing badly. By next month we will be having more people to serve.

We are pushing on well with work. No problem although our savings are slow because everything we are doing depends on this business.

We are trying hard to get more people around our place who can buy in our shop although tribalism is still there but we are fighting it out.

Since we started this business we have never lucked what to eat altough my going home for three days is the one that brought me backwards but will catch up.

Business is not bad today we are almost selling everything that we have bought today sometimes business is down at times its up like today we are happy all is well.

City council are coming every day to collect revenue which is around one dollar a day. Most of our profit goes to them. Its better to pay it monthly than daily. Its expensive but if you dont pay they come and take your goods, thats the bad part of it. I am planning to be paying it monthly when I am stable.

Things are very expensive in the market and that makes us get small profit. We cant hike our prizes because customers will run away. Although its small we will survive.
Things will be fine soon in the market and business will be good to our side. I will then get good profit.

Its Friday, we are busy both of us. My wife is just back from the market. I am going out to deliver some vegetables to the school and other customers.

I am on my way to the market. I have to go on foot because transport has become too expensive for me. Most of our profit goes to transport I noticed yesterday.
I am looking for other means of transportation. If all goes well I will buy a bicycle for myself so that I can make my work too be easy becauase I will not be late.

At the market goods are coming but at a slow rate that we buy at a very high cost. It ends up affecting our business. At times we are forced to sell at a loose.

Today I am supplying my customers up to 12pm then from there I will be going to look for a school for my kid coming next year. Enrolment is being done from today.

I am still in the school. parents have turned up in large numbers each expecting to have a chance for their kids next year. I hope they are going to take my son.

Meanwhile my wife is still in our shop distrubuting goods to our customers she went to the market alone because I have our son with me waiting at the school.

I have a place in the school so I have to buy school uniform, pay registration fee, food program fee, school fee etc. etc.

Its a busy day for me because for two days I have not been serving my customers the way I always do because I was busy at school. Right now I am going round doing so.

I am on my way back from the market. I woke up very early so that I may keep time of my customers, like in the school, where students eat on time.

The day is okey. Business is running smoothly. I am with my kid inside the house teaching him how to make toys using plastisim. My wife is outside waiting for customers.

I went to the school and found that my place was given to another because I didn’t take the registration fee on time. I am looking for another school now. There is another school around us but not as good as the one I got before. I am going to go there at around 3 pm to see if I can get a chance.

I have found another school which is not bad. They handle children in a good way. Although they are expensive but they are good.

The day was cool. I am almost selling everything. Today I was just alone. My wife was doing the washing. I am in the shop with my son.

I went to the market early. I was there at 6am so that I can get what I need at a better prize.
It was not a bad day for us. Our shop was the only one that was opened. I was forced to go to the market twice again to bring more goods.

Jambo, the weather was rainy. We were selling from inside. Our customers are slowly coming to buy. Business is not good today. Things were very slow because of some bad weather. We managed to sell half of the things we bought today. Some of them are going to remain fro tomorrow.

I am going to the market today at 6 am. I am not going to buy many things because have gone at a loss for the past two days.

I bought small things yet have not finished selling. Business is bad but we hope it will be okey soon.

Last Friday my wife did some collections of our main customers how pay us every Friday while I cleared and arranged our work place.

We are fine but not really fine. We are struggling very much to bring things back as usual. Our business is not well as u know everything we do depends on it. Right now business is going very slow so that we have to cut the cost of some things. Our profit is less these days then before.

Have gone to a friend of mine who is having a shop in town to help him for a day then he pays me in the evening. I havent paid my rent so I have to move.

Business is not going on well yesterday I could not text you because I had nothing in my phone anyway we are working hard to make both ends meet.

It’s almost mid day. Am at home with my kid. My wife is in the shop talking to some of our customers, although business is slow. But we are trying.

It is time my wife is closing up. These days we don’t buy many things coz they are expensive and people in our place can’t manage to buy if we hike the prize.

It is a good day for us. We cleared some of our issues and even add some money to our business, which was going bad.

Although things are expensive this sides of ours we can’t close our shop. Even if the profit is less we are still in business.

We are ok. All of us busy. Am working extra hard for my son to join school next term. That school I was telling you agreed to enroll him. I paid for one term so he will start going when they open.

Business is not that bad, we are moving on well. I know by next moth food will be so many in the market and our business will be back to normal.

It is a busy day for us all. I was alone at our shop, my wife went too for a visit and she will come back at night. Am happy to tell you that my family is fine although am still working hard. It is good to tell you that things are running smoothly.

Am working very hard so that my family can lead a good life in the future. That is why I wake up very early in the morning to go to the market. Today looks good. Business is going on well unlike the other days. We have even started buying bananas, mangoes, which is not at all that bad.

It is another good day for us to wake up healthy. We are doing well, cause business is good at times like today. The weather is so good and shiny, when it is like that business is good.

I was planning to join a training school for cook, but I can’t now cause it’s to expansive for me. This time round guerba was calling people who have certificates, they didn’t want helpers, it could have been an advantage for me, cause we were given first priority. (Guerba is a travelling company that organizes safari tours)

Am having a busy day today. I am alone today, my wife has gone to the clinic. I am left with our kid and am looking after the shop too.

What a good day and fantastic to be home alone. Have managed to do some house work and even sell to my customers with my kid around. I wish that he will go to school next term if all goes well.

It was a bad day for me the day before yesterday. My phone went down coz of the cells. I had to take it in another place for it to get charged. Am at the market shopping for some.

It is another day, business as usual. Yesterday I had some money which I had saved for the whole week. I paid part of the school fee for next term, so that my son can start going to school when it is opened.

Have managed to pay for my sons school fee, so he will be going to school next term.

We are doing well. At home everyone is fine, business is not at all that bad, cause we do sell. But our profit is not all that good. Today I am alone at our shop. I don’t have much work to do cause the school that I supply is closed. My wife is doing some washing for someone, so that she can be paid to make both ends meet.

Jambo, yesterday I was in town to take my sons birth certificate, cause they need it at the school when they open. Am happy that everything today was well on my side. Now the only thing is for my son to go to school next term.

We have already closed down our shop, business was not bad today. At times we do very good, but not all the times.

Its morning, I am on my way to the market so that I can come back early to do some other things in the course of the day.

I have started selling mixed fruits to the people around. They like it but they want it cold so I have to try and buy some ice cubes which will cost me some money.

I am already out of the house with my pudding. My wife is at the shop. If all goes well I will buy a coolbox so that I can make cold pudding.

Jambo, we are okey and doing fine. Business as usual is moving despite the hard way we are going. I have to do some extra work so that I can meet some of my needs.

Yesterday all my work was taken by the council because I had not paid them. Now my work is down now.

Jambo, I hope you are fine. It’s long since we talked. I am having a problem. My shop and my goods are destroyed by the city council. I can’t even top up my phone.
My son is going to school today without even taking tea. I am going to look for work to do.

Thanks a lot for the money you send. I was very happy together with my family. Although I cant open my shop because I need to clear with the city council so that they can give me the permit to do business. I cant afford to pay for the permit because you pay it for the whole year, yet my profit is not enough to do that. We depend on that shop our rent, food, clothing, everything.

Things are not going well on my side after our shop was closed down because we did not have a permit to run the business. Our business was doing well and I expended it. In Kenya any business which tends to be big a permit is a must. Right now I am strugling even to get something to eat and to pay my house rent because there are no jobs.

I was forced to move to a small house. Eating at times is a problem. My kid many times does not go to school asking me for tea because he does not understand whats going on. I have to ask my friend for his phone so that I can SMS you.

Life is not smooth the way it was when we had the shop. I cant run a shop without a permit which is too expensive. We depend on the shop for everything now its bad.

I am now at home its the time I am getting home with some little food. I work extra hard but its never paying because at the end of the day I owe people a lot.

I am still working hard to get a permit for my shop. I have talked to one of the council and he tolled me to go to the head office and tell them my problem and they will help. So I will go there in the afternoon.

Jambo. Its long since I text you. I am not all that fine right now. Things are not going well on my side. Infact I have decided to go home and start a new life very soon.

Hello. I am now at home up country with all my family. It happened very quickly because all my household were taken by the landlord because of 3 months rent, even my bed.
